Basic Guitar Lessons On line
It is not necessary to master the scales when learning to play an instrument since it may be difficult for you. You could end up hating the instrument you chose to practice. Enjoyment is the key. In time a note that does not sound as good as you think it sound mastered subconsciously.
Knowing the parts of the guitar is the first thing in learning how to play. The right hand is used for strumming and the left hand for picking and holding the guitars next by right handed players. As if following the body of the player the body of the guitar should sit comfortably on the right thigh. The pieces of metal along the neck of the guitar are frets. These are the main source of the sound where the strings are attached to the guitar. Only true sound can come out if the strings are pressed on the fret board even though they vibrate when strummed.
The western or modern scale of twelve tones is what the music of the guitar is based on. The letters A to G symbolize the scales making them easy to remember. There is “natural”, “flat” and “sharp” just like with other musical instruments. Music is like math, there is a sound equivalent for every sound wave in the air.
Ordinary guitars have six strings while some have as many as twelve. The lower part of the guitar is on the thigh when the guitar is resting on the lap. Different tones are created by pressing the frets on the fret board. The fact that octaves are different makes two notes on the same scale sound the same.
It is not hard to tune a guitar. Those with keen ears can listen to the notes the strings create or you can listen to a piano or pitch pipe to match notes. To tune A press the E string to the fifth fret. Tuning pegs can help to achieve the exact sound of the note. The same procedure is followed to tune all but the G and B strings.
